Edwina Hart Launches North Wales Leadership Campaign

The town described as the birthplace of local government in Wales will be the venue for another political event on Friday (October 16th). Edwina Hart AM will launch her North Wales campaign to become the first female leader of the Labour Party in Wales by meeting supporters in Flint.

She said: "I have been delighted by the support I am receiving from members of North Wales and i am looking forward to launching my North Wales campaign in Flint. It is my intention that under my leadership we will represent all of Wales and will address the needs and hopes of the Welsh people as a whole."

Seven hundred years ago Flint received a Royal Charter allowing it to lay claim to the title of the birthplace of Welsh Local Government and Edwina Hart will add to the town's long history of political debate by meeting supporters at Flint Castle.

Earlier this week Flint Labour Party Branch gave it's unanimous backing to the Health Ministers bid to become leader and Delyn AM Sandy Mewies is one of the Assembly Members supporting her.

Former Mayor of Flint and ex leader of Flintshire County Council Alex Aldridge said: "There are three capable candidates standing but for me the outstanding one is Edwina Hart.'

Earlier in the day Edwina is visiting the Airbus Factory at Broughton and the Corus Works at Shotton.
