Dear Mrs Hart and the I Hart Labour Team,

I hope just to let you know that Edwina Hart has my vote for leadership of Welsh Labour, and to offer my reasons, in case they help.

Edwina came from the Trade Unions, but she clearly stands for a diverse and inclusive type of Labour politics in Wales. 

She represents a proud rural constituency with seriously needy urban pockets. She has a background in finance, but is a consistent supporter of the arts in Wales. She has a broader portfolio of cabinet experience earned in the last 10 years than either other candidate, proving her as committed to sound budgets as to innovative social justice. She has in fact been at the very heart of devolved Welsh politics since the Assembly's birth.

Besides and despite all of which, she still speaks like she thinks outside Cardiff Bay. Edwina is obviously the woman - the winner - Wales needs.

She has the right values, clear vision of both big and small pictures and most of all the will and stamina to make change happen in the face of persistence resistance from whatever source. She also has an incredible personal touch: everyone I know who has sought her help – often  when facing bureaucratic obstacles in accessing services – says the same: she is warm, approachable, very quick to identify what needs to be done and awesome at getting it done. What else could we ask?

Edwina I feel is the one most likely to lead us through the difficult times ahead.  We will need the no nonsense approach if we are to succeed as a Labour Party within the Assembly and in Wales. She will always have my support, and as an active trade unionist herself she knows the problems the working people face every day.
